Identification: 16-35 in; Slender brown or black snakes with a dull white to tan stripe down the back and pale lateral stripe on each side; scales keeled.

Habits: Eastern ribbon snakes inhabit open pine woods, bogs and mixed pine-hardwood forest.

Distribution: The Florida Parishes from the Clinton and Montpelier areas eastward.

Comments: The Eastern ribbon snake is a non-venomous snake.
